As ARCANE CIRCLE opens, Persephone Alcmedi is fresh from the shore-side battle with the Fae and dealing with the many repercussions. She plunged a stake into Menessos heart and still does not know if he will rise again. Johnny has been gravely wounded with the claws of a phoenix and his wounds are not healing as they should have while in wolf form. When the vet finishes doing what he can for Johnny, Seph needs to convince him to help the other victims of the battle including dragons, griffins and phoenixes whose loyalty shifted as the Fairies returned to their realm.
There is nothing to shield her from the anger of the witches in her former lucusi. Her role in the death of Xerxadrea is unclear, and the investigation has been picked up by a new section of Homeland Security specializing in non-human crime. She hasn't the luxury of dealing with them now. With Johnny all but confirmed as Domn Lup, the time has come to keep her promise and remove the tattoos that magically constrain his powers. The trail to the artist who made them so long ago is more than cold, and when they finally track down the person responsible, it is the last person in the world Persephone would have guessed, and the last person in the world she would want to speak to.
Linda Robertson maintains her high standards in book four of the Persephone Alcmedi series. I especially enjoy her method of starting each subsequent book directly where the previous one left off, making the series even more of a keeper for me as they can be read in one sitting with hours of enjoyment as I linger in the alternate world of Cleveland she has created. I am so glad she is continuing the story in book five, Wicked Circle.
