Mystery Historical

Most everyone refers to India Black as a whore. She thinks of herself as an independent business woman. India owns and operates Lotus House, an upscale whorehouse in 1876 London. When a government official has a heart attack and dies at her establishment, she tries to get his body out in the middle of the night without anyone noticing. She is not successful.

That's when India is enlisted by British government officials (actually kidnapped and brought to them) to help retrieve some documents the dead gentleman had with him at the time of his death. India finds herself matching wits with Russian spies, English clerics and crafty politicians. She works with French, a very handsome British spy, as they crash a Russian Embassy party, break into a hotel room to steal her dead guest's document case, and then flee across country at night in the middle of a snow storm in pursuit of some Russian spies.

It seems that every time they get possession of the case, the Russians get the jump on them and steal it back. This continues to occur all the way across England to the coast and across the English Channel to France. India and French find themselves in some precarious positions, while pursuing the Russian spies trying to capture the document case and save England from embarrassment.

Just what are these important documents that cannot get into Russian hands? How could they embarrass England? These documents could change the course of history as we know it. Bone up on your English and Russian history with this witty account of India Black's escapades. She's quite a character! This author promises to send India on more espionage adventures you are sure to enjoy.
