Lady Rebecca Fitch is determined to put the horrors of her
past behind her, and to seek out her pleasure without
allowing any man close enough to endanger her freedom, abuse
her trust, or threaten her heart. With the guidance of her
worldly friend, Cecelia, she has arranged what promises to
be the start of a mutually rewarding relationship with Jack
Fulton based on pleasures
of the flesh, without the strictures imposed by society or
any foolish trappings of romance. From the moment she saw
him, her body came alive for the first time in the four
years since her brief marriage ended.
Adventurer Jack Fulton has returned to England after twelve
years of self-imposed exile, determined nothing will send
him from her shores again, but the shadows of his past
endanger his present. He must marry, and marry well within a
month, or die. When Jack first spied Becky Fitch he
perceived her a woman apart from her companions, with an air
of cold beauty and introspection he found intriguing. When
he learned she was also wealthy, she seemed the answer to
his prayers.
Jennifer Haymore brings a third book to her series of
historical romances tied in with the James family (after
A Hint of Wicked and A Touch of Scandal).
Becky's fears are well-grounded and Jack's desperate need
for money is realistically portrayed, but what shines in
this book are the love scenes. Explicit yet still shot
through with passion and romance, they are some of the best
scenes of the book, weaving seamlessly with the other story
arcs. A SEASON OF SEDUCTION is more than a holiday romance,
it adds tension and spice to what could be a standard
historical. It is Haymore best thus far.
Although the widowed Lady Rebecca has sworn off marriage,
men are another matter. London's cold winter nights have her
dreaming of warmer pursuits-like finding a lover to satisfy
her hungry heart. Someone handsome, discreet, and most
importantly as uninterested in marriage as she is. Someone
like Jack Fulton.
A known adventurer and playboy,
Jack seems like the perfect choice. There's just one
problem: Jack isn't interested in an affair. He needs the
beautiful, mysterious Lady Rebecca to be his wife. And he
doesn't have much time to persuade her. A secret from Jack's
past is about to surface, and by Christmas Day he'll be
either married to Rebecca or dead.
