Romance Paranormal

Elizabeth Bretton has made peace with her life, or so she says. Widowed without children and then turned into a vampire (making her dreams of having children impossible), Elizabeth is content living in Broken Heart, a town full of paranormal beings. Elizabeth figures she's seen it all, and there's not a whole lot out there to be scared of; that is, until she starts hearing voices and a vengeful ghost attacks her. Saved by an enigmatic stranger when she's out in the woods during a storm digging up buried bones, Elizabeth soon finds herself in the middle of a 150-year-old mystery regarding the town. Now if only she could get her mind off her savior long enough to figure it out.

Tezozomoc "Tez" Abraham Elvis Jones is a were-jaguar who saves Elizabeth. Invited to Broken Heart by the alpha of the were-cats, Tez is a homicide detective who finds himself joining forces with Elizabeth to figure out what is going on with the people in town. All the happy couples that Elizabeth used to secretly envy are now fighting and even attempting to murder each other. With Tez by her side, flirting outrageously with her with every breath, Elizabeth must discover the towns secret before it rips apart every happy couple in Broken Heart; all while trying to determine if she and a certain were-jaguar could have a happily ever after for themselves.

CROSS YOUR HEART, by Michele Bardsley, is another grab you by the throat, laugh-out-loud addition to the Broken Heart series. The banter between Tez and Elizabeth isn't just funny, it's hot. I loved their interactions. Elizabeth is so proper and Tez is everything she's not. They make a fantastic pair. The mystery surrounding the town of Broken Heart adds a lot to the story, as well. We finally get to learn how the town came by its name and, along with it, some information about the founding families. If you thought the inhabitants of Broken Heart were up against some crazy evil before, you haven't seen anything yet. Whether you're already a fan or new to the town of Broken Heart, you will not be disappointed with this action-packed, witty story that'll keep you engrossed in the small town to the point you'll want to visit.
