Sebastian, Viscount Iverley, is an unconventional and
untidy bookworm, complete with ridiculous glasses, who has
no interest further than his collection of books. Until,
that is, he is enticed by the pink clad calf and knee of
the widow Lady Diana Fanshawe. Sebastian, raised by his
uncle in an old dismal and remote mansion, lacks the social
skills demanded by London society.
Diana has been in love with Sebastian's cousin, Blakeney,
for most of her life and sets her cap to marry him, even
though she does not intend love to be part of the bargain.
Once she has been kissed by Sebastian, precipitated by a
wager she made with Blake, her world turns and she no
longer has her sights on Blake. About to propose, Sebastian
learns of the wager and vows avenge. A chain of events
changes Diana's course in accepting the alternate offer of
marriage to Blake. Now the die is set as Diana finagles
marriage to Sebastian, while he is out to humiliate her for
her treachery.
Miranda Neville's creation is an amusing and
exciting story of two opposites finding out they are more
alike than they thought. The sexual appetites are equaled
once Sebastian is drawn from his shell and pretty hot
situations occur. Diana is an interesting character, full
of life and unconventional thinking coming from an
eccentric family. I thoroughly enjoyed the reading of this
novel.
