While the main story is of Lucy's attempt to clear an innocent man of murder, there are several side stories that intermingle to keep the action moving along at a fast clip. Lucy and private investigator Sean Donahue's relationship is being hijacked by a conniving ex-girlfriend. Lucy and journalist Preston Bailey continue their back and forth sniping, not to mention the little secret Preston is keeping from Lucy. Lucy's worries about her father and his secret romances. Her best friend Em's upcoming nuptials look as if they are about to be derailed. As if that weren't enough, there is Lucy's dynamic and feisty grandmother Dovie's attempts to get great-grandchildren out of her single granddaughter.

There is a whole lot going on in this book, but Webber manages to weave everything together to create a fascinating and magical story that leaves the reader wanting more. Luckily, there will be more Valentine stories to come, as Webber completes the third book in the series. Anticipation will be high for the next story of Lucy and her escapades.
