As heir to the Reynard Clan, vampire Francesca "Flare" Reynard has agreed to give her mother and Matri what she wants: grandchildren, but she plans to do it via technology rather than biology. However, her mother would prefer a more organic solution and enlists the steaming hot Prime Tobias Strahan for help.

Seducing Flare has been on his agenda, but with the current Matri's full support, politically and personally, Tobias could hardly say no. In the midst of a multi-magical war, they don't have time to be emotional, but Flare and Tobias have difficulty not giving their bodies, and their hearts, what they want.

A page-turner, the exposition is well-crafted, so one won't feel adrift when dumped in the middle of the series. Lots of layers of storytelling make this an interesting tale where the ratcheting romance heightens an intricate plot.
