"Sit back and take a ride back in time to France in 1794 when the Reign of Terror was in full force, and experience a lesson in history, revenge, betrayal and the ultimate love."
Frankie Suchet is a modern day vampire working as a
bartender in San Francisco. It's not a bad job for a
vampire but the problem is that Frankie has been around
for two centuries and she's tired. Not only is she tired,
she's lonely, and she spends a lot of her time being angry
at Henri Foucault, the French duke who first saved her,
and then turned her into what she is today. Turning her
and then abandoning her, Frankie has never forgiven him
and would love nothing more than to be able to go back to
that fateful moment that changed her life so that she can
avoid being made vampire, while also killing Henri in the
process.
Amazingly enough, Frankie gets her wish from a most
surprising source. When a beautiful vampire enters the bar
one night, Frankie learns that there's a way she can
revisit the past and change her future. She takes this
chance to go back in time and become Francois Suchet, the
innocent young girl she once was.
It's going to be very hard for her to do what she returned
to do. Henri is so much more than just a man and Francois
is quite aware that he has a lot to offer the right woman.
Henri allows Francois to think the worst of him, though,
in order to protect his secret as well as to protect
himself from what he feels for her. His all-consuming work
is rescuing the imprisoned innocents from the horrible
dungeons that lead them to the guillotines. If he is to
continue to be successful in that endeavor, he must be
sure that his secret remains just that.
However, after rescuing Francois from an angry mob, they
both feel rising passions within that they hide from each
other as well as trying to hide from themselves. Francois,
having lost her memory of the future, fears she's losing
her mind when she keeps hearing another voice inside her
head telling her that she must kill Henri. Yet, how can
she kill a man she has come to desire as much as her own
life?
This book is quite an engaging and wild ride. Most of the
book takes place during a few pivotal days in 1794 France
but a clear and brutal look is given to the reader of what
the conditions were like for the French during that time.
There is plenty of adventure and action with a bit of
humor thrown in. There is also sadness, love and a great
deal of passion.
I love the way that Susan Squires allows her characters to
give in to what they want and to make decisions, while not
always "right," are the best ones for those particular
characters. TIME FOR ETERNITY was quite a satisfying read
and left me wanting more of Henri and Frankie. This is a
definite recommendation for lovers of vampires and history
because learning history has never been more exciting or
fun, or the vampires sexier.
Once, Frankie Suchet loved Henri Foucault—and it cost her
everything. For two centuries, she has cursed the French
duke who gave her his blood and then disappeared forever.
Today, this sexy vampire is a bartender living in San
Francisco. Now Frankie has been granted a chance to go
back in time…and kill the man who made her what she is.
But becoming “Francoise” again means losing all memory of
the risk Henri poses to her future…and her
heart.
France, 1794. The Reign of Terror is in full
swing. From the first, Henri is an enigma, saving
Francoise from an angry Parisian mob. Drawn to his
seductive vitality, Francoise discovers there is much more
to him than she once knew. Henri’s devotion to rescuing
innocents from the guillotine is his sole passion—until he
encounters Francoise’s intoxicating blend of innocence and
warmth. And as their attraction explodes to dangerous
desire, the only way to save each other may be to
sacrifice their timeless love…
