Gennie Valente's father forces her to recite and understand

age, not giving her the love or attention most children
receive from their parents. For Gennie's graduation gift,
he gives her a trip to Russia to study the Lynx, a personal
dream of hers. However, her excitement dies when the reason
behind the gift is to payback the college loans and to
locate and convince a Chosen One, John Powell, to return
from his self-induced reclusive life to finish a contract

danger of his powers and the danger he poses to others,
John has no choice but to stay away from all action. Gennie
Valente showing up in Russia to find and observe a family
of Lynx cats in the area changes everything. John is
instantly drawn to her, not by her outside beauty, but the
beauty that shines within her. Another betrayal threatens
his solitude and forces him into the life he wants and
