Cicely Waters, a magic-born witch, is taken from her home town of New Forest, Washington, by her mother at an early age to run from a heritage Cicely's mother wants nothing to do with. Unfortunately, Cicely's mother turns to drugs and men to drown out her powers, only to die for the effort. Now alone and traveling the highways, Cicely receives a message from home asking her to come back because friends are turning up missing and dying due to a strange aura taking over the town and forest. Cicely returns with a feeling of relief and a hope to rekindle a past love she has never forgotten.

Cicely's journey to a new life in her home town leads her to learn more about who she is and what her kind is up against. Cicely must work with Vampires to gain the help she needs to rescue friends and family from the Indigo Court and a Myst Queen taking over the town. The war taking place began years ago when Vampires attempted to gain more power by turning magic-born individuals into vampires, creating a more powerful being angry at the world and their creators. Now Cicely and her friends are caught in a war unwittingly becoming pawns in a bid for more power.
