While Rule Turner and Lily Yu are not only trying to plan
their wedding they must not only deal with their families
objections but they are trying to plan a baby shower for
their good friends Cynna and Cullen. Yet it seems that
those are not the only evils that they must face. Can Rule
and Lily fight and win against the threat that has come for
vengeance on her family and destroy the city while it is
here?
Lily Yu's character has great strength. As she deals with
all that is thrown at her she still finds time for her
love. Rule is just as strong and ready to stand and fight
by her side. Many of the characters in this story are full
of depth and it was interesting to learn much of the
background about them. Although each family would rather
have another Lily and Rule stick with each other and fight
together. Lily's family longs for a Chinese husband while
Rules clan would like no marriage at all but in the end the
two prevail and their love shines through. Having a Chinese
heritage I enjoyed seeing a strong Asian heroine. It was
nice to see an ethnic heroine as they are few and far
between. I enjoyed the Chinese magic and mystical forces in
this story as well it all made for one interesting ride.
Eileen Wilks transports the reader into a magical world of
shifters and grabs hold of you never letting go until the
end. Full of magic and suspense this book is worth a look
and will encourage you to seek out the other books in this
series if you have not read them already. BLOOD MAGIC has
some interesting surprises that keep the reader guessing
until the end. If you enjoy a good storyline and shape
shifters this is definitely one to check out.
