Ranger Dakoda Jenkins is about to discover a secret not only about the people who live on the reservation but also about herself. When her partner is killed and she is kidnapped by a group of men who plan to sell her she finds herself locked in a cage with a cougar. Jesse Clawfoot is part of a tribe called Tlvdatsi a people who were almost extinct with the ability to shift into a cougar and when he is caught off the reservation by poachers who knows what he is and has plans to sell him to collectors he finds himself stuck with the woman of his kind he was tracking when he was trapped.
When Jesse makes himself known to Dakoda while they are locked together he cannot help the draw he has to her to mate with her. He realizes right away that she also carries the blood of the Tlvdatsi, she is rare since there are not many woman left and now he will be able to carry on their heritage. He just needs to convince Dakoda of that and get them away from their captors alive.
Dakoda has only one thing on her mind, well actually two, first get the men who killed her partner and two have all the sex she can with the handsome man she is trapped with, not in that order. When Jesse tries to explain to her about how she is one of them she is ready to run home and refuses to believe him. When she has the opportunity to find out the truth which way does she go, home or follow her heart?
