"To readers' delight, many loose ends are connected in this excellent Tale of the Sazi."

Romance Paranormal

In Adams and Clamp's Tales of the Sazi, shapeshifters often have gifts far beyond merely shapeshifting. Eric Thompson's are such that the leaders of the community aren't sure whether he should be exiled or given the responsibility of his own pack.

Holly Sanchez, a formerly non-shifting human born into the Sazi community, was attacked and changed into a shapeshifter. Despite the healing gifts she received in her transformation, many of her dreams were stolen from her. Holly finds herself in a unique situation: her youthful resentment at the vast unfairness of the treatment of non- shifters in the community caused her to have close, even lethal, bonds with other non-shifters. Although she can now shift, she is seen as a victim of the "animals," and may need every connection she has ever had to try to help the entire Sazi community, shifters and humans alike, survive horrifying acts of terrorism toward their kind.

Fans of the previous Tales of the Sazi will rejoice in having so many loose ends connected; newcomers to the series will find plenty of backstory and enjoy the excellent writing before ordering the rest of the series!

SUMMARY

Eric Thompson has always lived in the shadow of his older brother, the Alpha of the Canadian werewolf pack. While he has strength and speed and a howl that can truly make his pack whole, he doesn’t have his brother’s viciousness—and the pack wasn’t worth either of them dying. To Eric, a leader should lead wisely and well, and his brother has done neither. So he left to become a lone wolf. Holly Sanchez has likewise lived in the shadows. A full human born to the Omega of the Boulder pack, she was attacked and turned into the very thing she had come to hate. Worse still, she became an alphic healer—except that as a wolf, she now terrifies the very animals she’d hoped to one day treat as a veterinarian. But as the world goes mad and species begins to attack species, Holly and Eric learn that they may only have their special gifts, and each other, to rely on to hold together the fragments of what was once a mighty shapeshifter population. For She has finally come, and the world will never again be the same.
