Ian Maclean has had a rough life. Kidnapped as a child by his evil grandfather, he's tormented daily by the abuse he suffered for sixty-six years. Now living in the twenty- first century, Ian has become an international art thief and his latest acquisition, a page from the Book of Power, is sure to net him huge gains when he sells it to the highest bidder. There's just one little problem.
Samantha Rose has been hunting evil since she was twelve years old and witnessed her mother's brutal murder at the hands of a demon. Now, as a slayer for the government agency known as the Centre for Demonic Activity, Sam's newest assignment is to convince Ian to not sell the page and give it to the government instead. What she didn't count on was falling for the very man who once rejected and humiliated her. Now she has to decide what's more important to her; her job or Ian.
Brenda Joyce brings a fabulous end to her time-traveling Rose Trilogy, part of the Masters of Time series, with the highly anticipated DARK LOVER. I thought Sam and Ian were perfect for each other. Watching Ian struggle with his past is heart-wrenching but makes you fall completely in love with him. Sam is a kick-ass heroine with a smart mouth but has scars of her own she has to deal with. When the two are together, it's just explosive. I would recommend you read the other books in the series just so you can keep track of the timelines and also to keep up with all the other characters from the other books in the series that pop up. Joyce has, once again, penned a multifaceted, heart wrenching, compelling story. DARK LOVER is not only a book you shouldn't pass on, the entire Masters of Time series is one you do not want to miss.
