Hailey Roarke's decision to take a leave of absence from the Key West Police Department is due to her father's unexpected death and his crazy, bizarre instructions at the reading of his will. He devised a scavenger hunt with the winner getting control of Roarke Resorts, which puts everyone in overdrive.
Personally, Hailey has never had any intention of joining the family business, but her father wrote her a letter asking for her participation in his adventure, so she is inclined to follow his final wish. All she has to do is acquire the numbers off the bottom of five replicas of the Last Seduction statue he gave certain relatives to locate the real one. Unfortunately, the task becomes dangerous when Hailey's cousin is murdered and she's the prime suspect.
Chicago Police Detective Shane Maxwell has been going through the motions with his job. He is trying to get past the results of an investigation that left him with a knife wound to his side, which now has him doubting his ability to protect and serve. One evening after work, he goes to his favorite bar and sees the woman who has been haunting his thoughts ever since his sister's wedding. Hailey Roarke has gotten under his skin like no other woman, but when he gets a call to the murder scene of her cousin, he has the feeling that her appearance in Chicago is not a coincidence. Shane's urgency to protect Hailey forces him to become involved on a level that could get him fired and shake his resolve of staying detached.
This third book in the Stolen Series is full of intrigue, secrets and undeniable love with characters you can't get enough of. I love how the previous books are incorporated seamlessly. An awesome read!
