Romance Historical | Romance Paranormal

Mariah Marron has always known that she was plain and insanity seems to run in the family, so she knew that if someone married her it would be to gain her father's money. Unfortunately, she has her heart set on love, and furthermore her father wants her to have a title. Surprisingly, she gains both in the form of the Earl of Donnington. However, her marriage ends on her wedding night when her husband leaves her unexpectedly. Left to her own devices, she decides to explore her new home. She finds a man who bears a striking resemblance to her missing husband imprisoned in an outbuilding. Who is this stranger? Is her husband responsible for the man's imprisonment? Where has her husband gone and will he ever return?

Ash as the woman calls him does not remember much of anything. He only knows that the name Donnington ignites his ire. As time passes under Mariah's care, he regains his senses and remembers that he is Arion, the King of the Unicorns. He was betrayed and sent to the earth realm as a man. His mission is to gain Mariah's trust and get her to cross over to Faery in order to seal the bargain made by Lord Donnington and in return he will be able to regain his unicorn form though he will still be forced into exile. He loses no matter what happens. Will he betray the woman that has come to care for him? Or will the bond they share help them overcome the trap in which they find themselves?

Susan Krinard always writes spectacular paranormal romance, and LORD OF LEGENDS is no exception. I was quickly drawn into Mariah's plight, and was ready to embark on whatever adventure she landed upon. Arion is the unexpected prize, and from the first time we meet him, we know that he is special. Mariah and Arion have a rather interesting relationship that is fun to watch bloom. With a supporting cast of conniving characters, this tale is far from boring and there is no way to know what is going to happen next. LORD OF LEGENDS is a fanciful read that harbors just enough secrets to keep the story fast paced and intriguing.

But as the secret of Arion's magical identity unfolds, their friendship burns into a passion that cannot, must not, be consummated. For to do so would destroy them both….
