Romance Historical

Lydia Fairmont is up to her eyeballs in trouble. The bank is rearing up to foreclose on her adored home and the only solution is to marry the banker Jacob Fitch. It doesn't help matters that he is a homely, fat and older man and too boot comes with a doting aged mother. In her mind Lydia still has thoughts of a boy who she fantasized as the man of her dreams. Gideon Yarbro was her knight in shining armor when she was a little girl often coming to her rescue. So with that in mind Lydia decides to send off a letter to see if once again he will come to her aid. However it's been a decade since she last saw him and it was doubtful if the last address she had was still valid. But she was desperate. It wasn't just her future that was in question but that of her perky and petite widowed aunts who depended on her to keep their little world turning smoothly. Gideon shows up just in time and comes up with a plan. Now that's a little worrisome. Gideon's plans are usually off the cuff and this one is a doozy. Trust me on that. The feelings between Lydia and Gideon are deepening each day and the nights just keep getting better. But Lydia has been warned by Gideon that his stay in Stone Creek is just temporary. When his work is done there he will be on his way once again. Gideon is busy keeping his reason for being in Stone Creek a secret and at the same time keeping Lydia safe from her ex-fiancé who hasn't given up his quest for his runaway bride. Life in Stone Creek is hectic and at times dangerous but it is a dream come true for Lydia who is basking in the love of family. Now if her marriage had a future then she would be in line for a fairy tale ending albeit with some rough edges.

There is a lot of pixie dust in this latest installment on the Yarbro brothers. You can't help but picture the fairy godmothers in Cinderella when you think of Mittie and Millie, the aunts. I was waiting patiently for the story of Lydia and Gideon and was happily surprised to see Miller decide to bring them together. As always the characters in THE BRIDEGROOM are true to Miller's design and make you laugh, cry, wring your hands and make you happy to be along for the ride. As a diehard fan I was thoroughly entertained by this story as will you. Enjoy.

SUMMARY

Gideon Yarbro is known for stopping outlaws almost before they break the law, but now the undercover agent must stop a wedding—despite the bride’s resistance.

Lydia Fairmont will lose everything if she doesn’t honor her betrothal to a heartless lawyer—unless, that is, she can quickly marry someone else . . . love match or not.

Determined to honor an old promise to Lydia, Gideon carries her off to Stone Creek and makes her his reluctant wife. Forget the honeymoon—that’s not wise with a vengeful ex- fiancé on their trail. Yet maybe, just maybe, there’s hope for the marriage . . . and two hearts always meant to be as one.
