Romance Suspense

DECEPTION continues the saga of the Faraday Center three—Kell, Fin, and Julia—that was begun in RECKLESS. This is Fin's story, the runaway turned professional gambler who comes back and meets up with FBI undercover agent Caleb Matthews who is posing as Hallden, Georgia's assistant district attorney. Picking up right where book one left off, Fin and Julia return to Hallden, summoned by Kell. Now that Mrs. Faraday is off the hook for murder, Kell needs their help to contain, if not selectively reveal, their deeply buried secrets. Secrets that could ruin all three of them. After running away from Hallden, Fin has kept running and never planned to return. Her successful career as a gambler keeps her from having to put down roots and live in the best of style. But all of that is at risk if she, Kell and Julia unable to track down the killer she's been running from all these years. Caleb has been hiding his true identity as he hunts for a different killer. From the moment he and Fin meet up, sparks fly, but neither of them finds it easy to trust the other nor to join forces in their quest. Rarely do I read a series where the second book picks up at the very point where the first book ends, and offers an even more delicious story. DECEPTION is that book. The suspense rides high and the romance is endearing while also hot and sexy. Selena Montgomery's writing sucks her readers into the vortex of the story and only spits them out once the story has concluded, that they might get their bearings and anxiously await the next installment. Thus, I'm more than eager to read Julia's upcoming story.

SUMMARY

Always on the run . . .

Playing the odds has always been Fin Borders' forte. She knows when to get out to keep from losing everything. But an innocent woman has been accused of murder, and to help, Fin will have to go back to the small southern town of her birth. It's a place she's been running from her entire life, a place of violence, where she got by with nothing more than her wits. Returning to Hallden, Georgia, means facing the ghosts of a brutal crime that Fin will never forget—and risking her own life.

But Fin isn't the only one in Hallden hunting for a killer. FBI Special Agent Caleb Matthews is deep undercover, hiding his true identity and his own desperate history. Working alone is far too dangerous, so he and Fin must learn to trust each other. But as they grow closer, they are unprepared for the passion that takes hold . . . and the shocking deception that could destroy everything they hold dear.
