You know the expression -- you only get one chance to make a
good first impression -- well Macy Tucker's pretty sure
kicking the investigator, in charge of finding her escapee
brother, in the family jewels is not going to be one. But
Macy is used to rather over the top behavior, her family
seems to have invented it, and pardon the pun knee jerk
reactions. Living with a yoga training grandma and an ever
sobbing mother has given her a rather slanted view of family
life. So what's so great about having a normal family. Macy
would like a stab at normalcy but it looks like the gods
have other ideas. The women in her family are basically
distrusting of all men after all men cheat, desert their
families and die in their spaghetti -- in short they are just
no good. Then Macy's life goes from never boring to hectic
in the blink of an eye. Her worries start with word that her
brother Billy has just escaped jail and is wanted in
connection with the murder of another escapee and possibly
one of the guards. Then detective Jack Baldwin shows up
while she, using the excuse of pizza delivery, checks out
the house belonging to some squeaky voiced chick who claims
to be Billy's girlfriend. Here's where the first impression
thing got slightly out of hand. Next thing you know Macy is
attacked by someone and she protects herself -- well you get
the picture. Let's just say Grandma Nan taught her well --
too well if you ask Jake who can't believe this little
brunette has brought him to his knees. Better watch out
Jake. You haven't seen anything yet. As he learns Macy is
smart, sassy, sexy and unpredictable and he is definitely in
over his head with her and her somewhat wacky family. Torn
between his desire to protect her and get between the sheets
with her Jack finds himself in a vulnerable position that he
swore to avoid. But you see that's the interesting thing
about love -- it's pretty unpredictable and can happen to the
best of us. Gotcha!
It is a daunting task to write a review about a book that
will truly do it justice without giving away too much of the
storyline. Suffice it to say once you get started with
GOTCHA you won't be able to put it down. Kind of like a good
chocolate cake -- can you really stop at one bite when the
cake is beckoning. One more bite -- one more page and before
you know it the cake/book is done. Fast paced storyline
filled with little twists and turns -- couldn't ask for more.
Craig will get you from page one. Enjoy.
Macy Tucker was five years old when her beloved
grandfather dropped dead in his spaghetti. At twelve,
her father left his family in the dust. At twenty-five,
her husband gave his secretary a pre-Christmas bonus in
bed, and Macy gave him the boot. To put things lightly,
men have been undependable.
That's why dating's off the menu. Macy is focused on law
school, and putting herself through—which means being
the delivery girl for Papa's Pizza. But cheesier than
her job is her pie-eyed brother, who just recently
escaped from prison to protect his new girlfriend. And
hotter than Texas toast is the investigating detective.
Proud, sexy…inflexible—he's a man who would kiss her
just to shut her up. But Jake Baldwin's a protector as
much as a dish. And when he gets his man—or his woman—
Macy knows it's for life.
