Tessa and Vince share a painful past together. As
teenagers they had fallen in love, found out Tessa was
pregnant, gotten married. When Tessa was six months
pregnant she lost their son and had to have a
hysterectomy. Soon after that they divorced, Vince left to
join the Air Force and Tessa went to college.
Now twenty years later, Tessa is a Pediatrician and Vince
has moved back to town with his son, Sean, who is 7 ½
months old and has a shoulder condition. There chemistry
is still there, but do they still love each other? Can
Tessa get over there past? Can Vince forgive himself for
leaving? And when Tessa learns she's going to be a mom-
she's finally going to be able to adopt a little girl.
Karen Rose Smith has written a very charming romance
between two very vivid characters. The characters are
older than most of the 20-somethings, which I like. Vince
and Tessa are 38, and mature and successful, except with
the matters of the heart. Also, secondary characters play
a strong role in this book. I love secondary characters.
I especially love the way they are in this book. It really
shows Vince and Tessa have lives of their own, that they
didn't sit around pinning for each other. And there is
conflict throughout the entire novel, which drives the
characters and forces them to face how they really feel
about each other and pushes Tessa and Vince closer.
Vince Rossi would do anything for the adorable orphaned baby
left in his care. Problem was, the one doctor suitable to
help him was Tessa McGuire—his ex-wife. He had spent years
trying to forget the only woman he'd ever loved and the
tragedy that had torn their lives apart. And as if things
weren't complicated enough, Tessa was more alluring than
Vince remembered. Watching her hold his infant son brought
back memories of the passion they shared and the love they'd
lost. Could one little baby heal their broken hearts and
give them a second chance to become a family—this time,
forever?
