FRAGILE ETERNITY picks up a few months after its
predecessors, WICKED LOVELY and INK EXCHANGE, leave off.
The book does some backpedaling, which is helpful in
bringing new readers up to speed with the series, but it
gets a bit repetitive if you're already familiar with the
first two books.
As summer approaches, Aislinn becomes more comfortable in
her position as Queen of the Summer Court. She walks a fine
line as she strives to strengthen her court by bonding with
Keenan, her King and partner, and remaining faithful, in
heart...and body, to her human lover Seth. Seth tries to give
Ash the space she needs to govern, even though he is only
too aware of the growing bond between her and her King. As
he wanders between the three faerie courts that welcome
him, Seth finds himself more often than not pondering his
own mortality. There is still one court where Seth has no
friends or allies, yet. Sorcha, the High Queen has only
recently heard Seth's name, and she is most interested in
bringing him to her court as well.
Strong friendships don't always endure, betrayals are often
a way of life and alliances can be fluid. Things are about
to change quickly for Seth and Ash. War looms on the
horizon as the courts and their immortal monarchs take
stock of one another. Tempers flare, threats are offered
and it looks like chaos might break free in the faerie
realm and spill over into our own, as well.
Marr has created a fascinating faerie world. Although
written for young adults, it's as much of a crossover
series as Twilight or Harry Potter. These
books are an entertaining romp for anyone who enjoys
spending their time in enchanted places.
Seth never expected he would want to settle down with
anyone—but that was before Aislinn. She is everything he'd
ever dreamed of, and he wants to be with her forever.
Forever takes on new meaning, though, when your girlfriend
is an immortal faery queen.
Aislinn never
expected to rule the very creatures who'd always terrified
her—but that was before Keenan. He stole her mortality to
make her a monarch, and now she faces challenges and
enticements beyond any she'd ever imagined.
In
Melissa Marr's third mesmerizing tale of Faerie, Seth and
Aislinn struggle to stay true to themselves and each other
in a milieu of shadowy rules and shifting allegiances,
where old friends become new enemies and one wrong move
could plunge the Earth into chaos.
