Susan Grant writes the most wonderful science fiction romance books. Her Borderlands books really rock!
Wren always lived apart from her family. Her mother died and her father is the Warlord who apparently is ashamed of her. She hasn't seen him much but the last time she saw him she also saw young Aral Mawndarr. Aral decides then and there that he would claim Wren one of these days.
Wren finds out that not only was her father killed but her brother as well. Then her two guardians fight over her and one stabs the other with poison. Wren is worried that she will be killed as well so she kills her. Then as her guardian, Sabre is dying, she tells Wren that she is the key and gives her a pendant that leads to a great treasure.
Wren decides that she cannot tell anyone that she is the Warlord's daughter and his only living offspring especially when the Triad is rounding up all the Draaken on the pretense that they are trying to keep peace and are making sure the backward Drakken are exposed to good food and good health care.
When Wren is gathered up with the other refugees and taken to Zorbeta, she is given a medical chip to get her eyes fixed. She figures that will help keep her identity even more secret but that's where Aral finds her. This is when everything changes. Wren isn't sure that Aral finding her is a good thing but what is she to do? Danger is everywhere.
THE WARLORD'S DAUGHTER absolutely blew me away! There was so much going on and I was pulling for Wren to find her happiness as she had so little of it in her life. As always I ripped through this book at the speed of light and am looking forward to the next book by Susan Grant!
She alone
holds the key to finding a legendary treasure. Having seen
enough bloodshed, shy, petite Wren vows to destroy it
before anyone, Drakken, Coalition or Earth, can get their
hands on it - but she'll need help.
The Drakken's
ruthless evil turned Aral toward the Coalition years ago.
War is all he knows, until he finds passion and love in
the most unlikely of women - the Warlord's Daughter. But
will trusting each other with their secrets risk not only
their hearts, but their lives?
