Romance Paranormal

U. S. Air Force sergeant Christine Canady, CC, feels that there is something missing from her life, that elusive spark. While spending her twenty fifth birthday alone and seemingly forgotten by everyone, CC decides to create a little magic of her own. Fueled by drink and emboldened by the moon, she casts a spell to bring some magic into her life. She never thought that her spell would work, and soon she is taken by surprise when her world is flipped. She embraces the magic, and welcomes the change. After all, how can she refuse a gift that she asked for?

CC ends up in the body of the mermaid Undine, and is immediately assaulted by Sarpedon, a merman. She seeks refuge with the goddess Gaea and comes to an agreement. CC can take the form of a human and live on land, but to remain in that form she must find love. A violent storm rips open the skies, and CC is left floundering in the water in human form. A lovely merman takes pity on her and helps her to land. Though quickly rescued by a gallant knight and taken to a monastery, something is amiss. The monastery offers sanctuary, the knight offers a distraction, yet the call of the sea is unmistakable, and she yearns for the handsome merman who dwells there. Unfortunately, the sea also holds Sarpedon, the one she is hiding from. Where will her heart choose to reside -- on the land or in the sea?

P. C. Cast has brought new life to the story of Undine with her incredible retelling of the mythical tale. She holds her readers spellbound as she weaves a fascinating web of love and deception. CC is a very likeable person, and that makes it easier to escape into her world, to understand what drives her to want something more out of her life. GODDESS OF THE SEA is a magical romance that pulls you under the water and does not let go. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Cast, and it has certainly peaked my interest to pursue her other tales.

SUMMARY

On the night of her twenty-fifth birthday, alone in her apartment, Air Force Sergeant Christine Canady wished for one thing: a little magic in her life. After drinking way too much champagne, she performed, off all crazy things, a goddess summoning ritual hoping that it would somehow make her life a little less ordinary...but she never believed the spell would actually work!

When her military plane crashes into the ocean, CC's mission overseas takes an unexpected turn. She awakens to find herself in a legendary time and place where magic rules the land--occupying the body of the mythic mermaid Udindine. But there is danger in the waters and the goddess Gaea turns this modern, military gal into a beautiful damsel in distress so that she can seek shelter on land. CC is soon rescued by knight in shining armor. She should be falling in love with this dream-come-true, but instead she aches for the sea and Dylan, the sexy merman who has stolen her heart.
