Maggie Spritzer sure misses the adrenalin rush of a news
scoop and being able to dress in casual clothes and running
shoes. She also misses her ex-lover, reporter Ted
Robinson. But Maggie is a member of the vigilante group
known as the "Sisterhood" and Ted has spent months trying
to expose this group and bring them to justice. She is
also the editor-in-chief of the Post, and as such is Ted's
boss.
Since Maggie's defection Ted has changed. Gone is the
sloppy dressing, even sloppier housekeeping, and horrible
fast-food diet. He wants Maggie to believe he has no
hidden agenda when he passes on some information that the
Sisterhood should know about. Ted's source tells him that
the president's appointment of Bert Navarro to director of
the FBI will be voted down in the Senate due to the
suspicion of Bert's affiliation with the Sisterhood.
Maggie believes him, and the information is passed on to
ADA Jack Emery and Harry Wong so they can contact the group.
Meanwhile, another "Sister", attorney Lizzie Fox, is sent
to Las Vegas to help out an old friend of Myra and Annie.
The friend's daughter is in jail, without bond, and for no
legal reason. The daughter apparently has a knack at
winning on the slot machines, and certain dirty casino
management wants her out of the way. Lizzie takes Ted
with her and promises him a headline making story. Lizzie
also meets her legal-match, and possibly the man of her
dreams, in Cosmo Cricket, the attorney for the gaming
commission.
Like the ten preceding tales in this fantastic female
adventure series, FINAL JUSTICE is full of twists and
turns, and surprises galore. Fern Michaels ties up a lot
of loose ends, finds soul mates for a few characters, and
leaves the question of future stories up in the air. As
an avid fan of the "Weekend Warriors", I hope there are
many, many more adventures about these spunky women who
fight for truth, justice, and the American way.
The seven women of the Sisterhood--Myra, Annie, Kathryn,
Alexis, Yoko, Nikki, and Isabelle--have risked everything
in the name of justice, including their own freedom. Their
most recent mission promised to reward them with a
presidential pardon and a chance to leave heir enforced
exile. But before they can enjoy their prize, they'll have
to tackle a risky new mission in the heart of Sin City.
Myra and Annie's childhood friend, Beatrice, needs a favor.
The nine-times-widowed Beatrice has money to burn, and
she's willing to spend it to help rescue her estranged
daughter, Marble Rose, who's landed in serious trouble. It
seems that Marble Rose has been enjoying a stroke of good
luck at the casinos lately--the kind of luck that makes
enemies of the post powerful people in Vegas. Those people
want Marble Rose stopped, permanently. But as the Sisters
investigate with the help of their ally and attorney,
Lizzie Fox, they discover a web of corruption at the most
successful casino in town. And targeting the source--and
seeing justice served--will mean taking on their most
ruthless opponent yet.
Armed with Annie's sizable checkbook and Alexis's red bag
of tricks, the Ladies of Pinewood are about to put a daring
plan in action. The Sisters have never failed before, but
in Vegas, there are no sure bets--and the only thing they
know with certainty is that this time, they'll have to
wager everything they hold dear.
