Lady Sibylla Cavers just won't go through with a wedding
ceremony. In fact, she's rejected three different men -- two
of whom were standing at the altar awaiting her arrival.
She really isn't trying to be obstinate. But Sibylla sees
no reason to tie herself to a man she doesn't respect, and
she wants someone who wants her!!
What Sibylla doesn't expect is to be beholden to one of the
men she turned down. When she rescues a drowning child and
must be helped from the water, she finds herself face-to-
face with memories of her second doomed wedding. Simon
Murray and his men take Sibylla and the child to Simon's
family home, and she slowly begins to change her opinion of
the man.
Of course, the last words he yelled at her as she left
their wedding echo in her mind: "I'll never forgive you,
you impudent snip! You will rue this day!"
As the couple find themselves embroiled in a plot that
challenges the Border's truce with England, they may
discover that their getting married is not be such a bad
idea.
As usual, Ms. Scott's characterization keeps readers glued
to the pages, hoping for the happy ending at the same time
as they wish the book wouldn't end. BORDER MOONLIGHT is a
complex tale of politics, scandal and love. It doesn't get
much better than that!
Lovely nineteen-year-old Lady Sibylla Cavers is
marriageable, yet she has rejected the first three
candidates her father has introduced. Lord Simon Murray
(appearing in the first two novels of this Borders Trilogy)
is one of these three spurned suitors -- and Simon is
famous for never forgiving an offense. One day when Sibylla
is out riding, she sees a child drowning and guides her
horse into a raging river to save the child. But the
powerful current sweeps her up with the child in her grip.
Lord Simon, riding nearby, hears screams and heroically
helps Lady Sibylla rescue the child. To her surprise, Lady
Sibylla feels a powerful attraction to her rescuer. Lord
Simon, surprised to feel the same strong attraction, is
tempted to forgive her earlier rejection so that he may woo
this lass anew. But political intrigue fueled by the power-
hungry governor of Scotland will throw obstacles in the
path of Simon's and Sibylla's burgeoning love. Simon will
fight for his inherited estate of Elishaw, while Sibylla
will use all her wits to protect their future together.
