The ability to turn from human to smoke to dragon, and then back to human form, has set apart and isolated the shape- shifting drákon clan of Darkfrith from the rest of the world. They have been hunted for years. Thinking themselves to be the lone surviving drákon, Alpha Lord, Kimber Langford, Earl of Chasen, is shocked to receive a letter from his long-lost sister, Lia, telling him about another such clan living in the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania.
When another letter arrives, this time from the ruler of the other drákon tribe, Princess Maricara (Mari), Kim starts to believe in their existence. But this also means that they know of his existence, which could prove to be quite dangerous. This fact is proven when the mysterious and beautiful princess arrives in Darkfrith unexpectedly with the awful news that a serial killer is targeting her -- and all of the remaining drákon. Of course, the killer and his evil band of henchmen have followed Mari.
Once Kim sets his eyes on Mari, he knows she is the one destined to be his mate. Proving it to her, however, will not be an easy task, and neither will protecting her from the killer. This young woman has a mind of her own, and no man is going to rule her life. But Kim and Mari will need to come to some kind of a mutual agreement to be able to save both of their tribes.
This continuation of Ms. Abé's drákon series, started with THE SMOKE THIEF and followed up by THE DREAM THIEF, is another superb paranormal romance with exciting characters and a suspenseful plotline. The ending of QUEEN OF DRAGONS promises at least another book to come, as there are several loose ends to be resolved. I can't wait to read more about these splendidly sensual creatures and the world they inhabit.
