Hired by the daughter of a local politician to find her
missing father and brother, San Francisco P.I. Cape
Weathers has no idea how complicated -- and deadly -- the
case will become. He really doesn't like politicians, but
when body parts of both victims are found on a Mexican golf
course, Cape finds himself heading south of the border to
investigate.
With Sally, his lethally trained Asian companion, guarding
his back, Cape eventually finds himself pissing off
everybody from the mob, a nasty drug cartel, the DEA, the
local Policia -- to his own client. Miles away from home,
Cape is struggling to stay alive with no clue how to
resolve his case. The answers he eventually finds are
surprising and explosive, literally.
The swiftly moving plot, dry wit and colorful cast of
characters in Tim Maleeny's GREASING THE PIÑATA will
keep you totally entertained first page to last. As the
third installment in this engaging mystery series, it's a
fine addition that promises more great adventures to come
for Cape and Sally. At least, I hope so!
A former U.S. Senator vanishes days after his son goes missing. When they're both found dead on a golf course in Mexico, body parts missing, the Senator's estranged daughter Rachel resolves to discover what happened.
Private investigator Cape Weathers doesn't really want the case. He can't stand politicians and doesn't know the terrain. But when it looks like the daughter may become the next victim, Cape crosses the border looking for answers.
Cape asks his deadly companion Sally, trained by the Hong Kong Triads, to watch his back as he stumbles onto a conspiracy that leads from corporate boardrooms in San Francisco to drug cartel strongholds in Mexico. Together they confront a killer determined to bury the past as well as anyone trying to dig it up. Miles away from home and nowhere near the answers, Cape manages to get kidnapped, steal from the mob, piss off the DEA, alienate the local police, confound a computer genius, and somehow lose the client he's been protecting all along.
