Matt Royal is tired of being a hotshot city lawyer, so he quits his job and moves to the beach. He much prefers the easy life in Longboat Key, Florida, where he can spend his days visiting friends, enjoying the Florida sunshine and occasionally getting caught up in exciting escapades or a bit of trouble. And trouble is never far away from Matt. When his ex-wife, a woman he's never stopped loving, seeks him out to help find her missing stepdaughter, Matt can't say no to her. He promises to ask around. Disturbing to Matt is that the people he asks are dead within hours of his visit.
Matt enlists the help of his two best friends, along with many connections he has in Florida, to figure out exactly what's happened to this young woman. After several attempts on his life, Matt steps up his search and follows leads to an island off the coast named Blood Island. The events planned on Blood Island will have devastating consequences for the world. Matt cannot allow this to happen. He has to figure out how the missing girl plays into all the plans, find a way to save her and stop the evil plot.
H. Terrell Griffin writes with a great sense of humor and an apparent knowledge of the law. The dialogue is crisp and entertaining. Serious events sprinkled with a positive outlook on life makes Griffin's character, Matt Royal, and BLOOD ISLAND one entertaining read. I always enjoy the opportunity to read and review a book I wouldn't normally have personally chosen. I especially like it when I enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed BLOOD ISLAND.
