Anna Metzger is at her wits end with her abusive and
controlling boyfriend. She found out that he is stealing
from his campaign funds, and she knows that it is now or
never to break free from him. Since he has charmed her
parents and his political connections are far reaching, she
has few places to run. The only safe place she can think
of is the Brenneman Bed and Breakfast in the middle of
Amish country. She only hopes that Katie and her family
will offer her the sanctuary that she needs when she shows
up at their door. Anna puts in a lot of hard work helping
with the bed and breakfast, and she starts to feel more at
home. The simple living agrees with her, and Anna spends a
lot of time contemplating her situation, her current
arrangements, and her future. How long can she hide from
the outside world before it catches up with her? How can
she ever go back to that chaos after finding true peace and
possibly love in Amish country?
Henry Brenneman is Amish through and through. Even through
his running around years, he never did much in the English
world as it did not appeal to him. He does not like his
family's decision to let Anna stay since she is possibly
bringing trouble for his family. He is determined to keep
her at arm's length; however, the more she involves herself
in his world, the more he hopes that she could stay in it.
He does not want to care for her as he has already lost one
love to the English, and Anna already belongs to the
English world. He cannot ask her for any type of promise
since she is not Amish. Why does his heart always seem to
set him up for heartbreak? Is there any possible way for
them to find happiness together?
Shelley Shepard Gray brings a dazzling new voice to
inspirational romance. She has penned a wonderful debut
novel that challenges us to find God's will for our lives.
For Anna, she had to get away from the chaotic life that
she was living to realize how selfish and shallow she was
being. Henry needs a little reminder that God is in
control, and he needs to let Him direct all things. Ms.
Gray deeply entrenches the reader in Amish country, and her
writing allows us to experience their simple way of life.
HIDDEN is a heartwarming romance that gently reminds us
that even in the midst of life's storms, God never abandons
us and He is waiting for us to reach out to Him. This is
an excellent first novel, and I will be anticipating Ms.
Gray's next offering in this fabulous series.
When Anna decides it's time to leave her abusive
boyfriend, she doesn't know where to turn. Rob has
completely won over her parents, and the entire community,
with his good looks and smooth charm. Only Anna has seen his
dark side.
Desperate, she runs to the only place
she's ever felt completely safe—the Amish Brenneman Bed and
Breakfast, where Anna met life-long friend Katie Brenneman.
The family welcomes her in, and with few questions asked
allows her to stay, dressed in Plain clothing, and help
around the inn.
Katie's older brother Henry is the
only one who doesn't take too kindly to the intrusion. He
tries to ignore Anna, knowing no good would ever come from
caring for an Englisher like her. But as he gets to know
Anna, he discovers her good heart and is surprised with her
readiness to accept their lifestyle.
The more time
Anna spends with the Amish, the more she feels she's found a
true home. But how can she deny the life she left behind?
And will her chance for happiness be stolen away by the man
from her past?
