Romance Paranormal

Late for her first day on the job as a real estate agent, Claire Scanlan knows she's not starting her new career off with a bang. When the agency owner gives her and another new agent an opportunity at becoming the listing agent for a spectacular—yet un-sellable—house, Claire jumps at the chance to prove she has what it takes. All she has to do is convince the seller, Ben Grant, she's the better agent for the job. Once she's in the house though, she's not so sure anymore. There's something about the house that just isn't right, and Claire seems to be the only one who can sense it. Fascinated with the house even though it creeps her out, Claire is equally fascinated with Ben, who is the brother of one of the murder victims. When Ben gives Claire the listing to the house even after she has a mini-meltdown during the walk through, it becomes the perfect opportunity to get to know Ben better. The more she knows about the house and Ben though, the more she's questioning her judgment. Her newfound paranormal senses are telling her something isn't right about the story Ben has told her in regards to what happened the night of the killings. Now, not only does she have an un-sellable house to contend with, but she's also potentially consorting with a man who murdered his brother and his family in cold blood. With its slow pace and gradual build-up, Margaret Lucke starts her new Supernatural Properties series with a haunted house that'll have you hiding under your blanket. HOUSE OF WHISPERS is an intriguing mystery that keeps you guessing at the identity of the killer down to the very last second. The rivalry between Claire and her co-worker Avery is something, I think, we can all relate to. Avery's the kind of character you love to hate, yet you can't help feeling sorry for her either. Of all the characters in this book, I think Avery's was probably the best developed even though this wasn't her book, so I'm hoping she gets her own story next. If thrills, chills and a good case of whodunit is your thing, be sure to add HOUSE OF WHISPERS to your must buy list.

SUMMARY

Claire Scanlan is launching a new career in real estate and has a chance to sell a spectacular oceanview home designed by a world-renowned architect. But the home has a problem that frightens off buyers - it was the site of a vicious mass murder. As Ben Grant, the handsome, successful brother of one of the murder victims, shows Claire and a real estate rival the empty house, Claire experiences strange sensations. The unexplainable experiences continue and the idea that the place might be haunted both fascinates and repels her. Claire is also fascinated, and not at all repelled, by Ben Grant. Claire realizes the psychic experiences are real and must solve the mystery of the bloody tragedy - even though Ben seems to be a suspect.
