Mystery Woman Sleuth

Skye Williams thinks nothing can be worse than finding lingerie under her bed that's not hers (or even her size). But discovering her husband in bed with a *man* who is wearing the aforementioned lingerie means that her twenty-two-year marriage is over. Kaput. Dead. At least she has her two best friends to help her through her crisis. Is there life after being a stay-at-home wife and mother?

Bobbi Jo, one of Skye's best friends, is implicated in a murder when her handgun is stolen and then used to kill her personal trainer's girlfriend. And when other mysterious incidences and another death occur Bobbi Jo is looking at being charged with murder. Can Skye and Lily, their New Age friend, figure out who the culprit is before the police arrest Bobbi Jo?

Skye finds herself facing new challenges at forty-two. She must get a place to live, find a job (nearly impossible after being out of the workforce so long), get divorced, rejoin the dating scene and find a killer. No problem for such a multitasker like Skye, who begins by reclaiming her maiden name, Donovan. With two potential love interests, will Skye keep her mind on her appointed tasks?

IF IT'S NOT ONE THING, IT'S A MURDER is a very enjoyable novel. Readers looking for a more typical mystery may be disappointed because the crime-solving often takes a backseat to Skye reclaiming her life. Ms. Wolfe's Skye Donovan is a likable character who learns to love life again after divorce and becomes more like the woman she was so many years ago. This could easily turn into a cozy mystery series if the author chose to do so. Give this one a try if you like women's fiction merged with mystery.

SUMMARY

Skye Donovan has a life of structure and predictability after 22 years of marriage. Upon discovering another woman's underwear in her home, she suspects her husband is fooling around. She realizes her suspicions are both right and wrong when she walks in on him—and his boyfriend. Skye now finds herself confronting a new reality—she needs to start life over, find a new job, move to a new place, break the news to her teenage daughter, and worst of all, start dating again. Just when Skye thinks she has her best friend to help her through it all, corpses begin turning up—and that same friend is the prime suspect. To make things worse, she soon finds herself dealing with a handsome detective, a sexy writer, a pagan wedding, an unexpected pregnancy, and a new career. Now, amidst the chaos, she must exonerate her friend before the murderer strikes even closer to home.
