A woman wakes to the smell of smoke. She's in a strange room, covered in blood; three dead men are on the floor and she has a gun. She has no memories of the men, the room or the gun. In fact, she has no memories of her personal history at all; she doesn't even know her name. There's a note pinned to her chest with the word RUN printed on it. The woman runs.

After convincing the woman she needs his help, she and Lannes set out on a break- neck journey to unravel the mystery that surrounds her. Marjorie M. Liu has an amazing imagination. She comes up with one original idea after another. It's exciting to start a book by her and know that the story you're going to read isn't something that reminds you of something else. She's had three new stories this summer; THE WILD ROAD, THE IRON HUNT and a short story called Minotaur in Stone in the anthology HOTTER THAN HELL. Three stories in two months and every single one is brilliant!
