Courtney Andrews is not ready to give up on finding the right man but she's pretty discouraged. So she doesn't think much of the gift her cousin, Sonya, gives, on the eve of her wedding, to Courtney. Her little black book. Courtney knows that she and her cousin have different tastes in men but hey, her cousin is the one getting married and she's still a bridesmaid. So maybe a cue from her favorite family member won't hurt. Except all she gets from the little black book are some pretty awful dates. But then she meets Lake Masters—no thanks to that little black book. Lake Masters is a successful business consultant—smart, handsome, and wealthy. He's the last of the Masters brothers to remain unwed, not that he wants for female company. It's just that he's not found the one who is worthy of long-term consideration, and he doesn't appreciate the help of his well-meaning family in trying to find her. When he meets Courtney, the romance begins heating up. The road to bliss for Courtney and Lake has a few bumps along the way, much of them caused by family. Will they overcome all the family drama to find a love of their own? Brenda Jackson gives another enjoyable read in HER LITTLE BLACK BOOK. This romance takes on family dynamics—the consequences of one's choices and the impact of them on family—and delivers a sassy, fast-paced read. I would have liked to get to know Lake better but getting only a few details about his life was consistent with his character as a very buttoned up, private individual. Beyond that, Lake and Courtney's romance as well as the other love matches in this story made for a satisfying read.

SUMMARY

It's less than a week before Sonya Morrison's wedding when she decides to pass her legendary little black book on to her cousin Courtney Andrews along with all of her best wishes. Courtney, who's fast approaching thirty, thinks every woman she knows has somehow met a man who is husband material except for her. So Sonya's little black book seems to be just what she needs. That's until Courtney discovers she and her cousin have completely different tastes when it comes to men.

But just when she is about to give up and toss the infamous little black book into the garbage, she meets Lake Masters. Nearly ten years her senior, he's a lot older than the men she's normally attracted to, but he's handsome, intelligent, wealthy, and a man who is determined to sweep her off her feet. But the road to love is never easy and Courtney may find that her little black book is more a curse than a blessing.
