Some places hold the soul like no other and a return is inevitable, no matter how bitter the leaving. Although safe in the 21st century, the lovely and impetuous Mairi MacKiernan knows she will never find her own true love in her present life or in her past, for if her cousins with the Fae power had not rescued her, she would have been brutally murdered in 1272.

If that was frustrating enough, Mairi found out from old family documents that her beloved Aunt Rosalyn's daughter, Marsali Rose, the last of MacKiernan women with the gift of Fae magic, had been tragically killed in 1295. Torn by the anguish her favourite aunt must have suffered and stymied by her own lack of powers, she desperately wanted to do something, but didn't know how. Then intrigued by the interesting information that Jesse gave her about the lineage of other Scottish relatives, especially Sarah Douglas McCullough and her husband Ian with whom he had a brief visit, and the impact of their part-Fae blood, Mairi started thinking and planning.

Despite her pregnancy with twins and being near term, Sarah gave Mairi a warm welcome when she arrived in Scotland for a short visit. Mairi said she was just going to have a short visit to Sithean Fardach, her old castle, but Sarah sensed she was hiding something, especially with her unusual request to keep a package of her research. So, when Mairi didn't return as expected, she was alarmed and asked Ian to send a guardian to find her.

Newly graduated from training as a Guardian and Protector of Mortals, Ramos Servans, was surprised he was selected to handle this task and further astonished when he found out he had been specifically requested for this critical assignment. Vowing not to fail to protect Mairi, he was shocked when he found out the identities of the dangerous men that sought Marsali. Could he save Marsali and Mairi from the same people who had betrayed him before? He was determined to find his destiny, yet with the House of Pol involved, would it be what he expected?

Melissa Mayhue has crafted a suspenseful paranormal time travel romance that links characters across time, events and strong emotions while weaving in an intriguing story of two murders and their effects on the people involved, both past and present. You will not want to put down this story of destiny and heart's desire with its unexpected twists of fate set out by the Realm of the Fairies. While this is a wonderful read on its own, fans will be pleased to know this is the third book in Mayhue's "Daughters of the Glen" Series with a fourth book, "A Highlander of Her Own" coming in early 2009. Can't wait for that! Enjoy!

SUMMARY

Nine years ago, Faerie Magic saved Mairi MacKiernan at the
cost of her dreams of happiness, snatching her from her
life in 1272, and depositing her in the twenty-first
century. Now, she must save the last Daughter of the
MacKiernan family...who was murdered in 1295. Transported
back in time at her request, Mairi finds herself captured
by the same evil men as before! Is this the price the
Faerie Magic requires of her this time?
Ramos Servans has dedicated his dreams to service as a
Guardian, but when he discovers the evil unleashed on the
Mortal Plain by his father and their people, he swears he
will atone by ridding the world of Nuadian deceit. Part of
his mission involves rescuing a lovely Highland lassie,
and in the passion that grows between them, Ramos and
Mairi find a new dream.

But falling in love can be dangerous when Faerie Magic is
involved. Dreams may not be the only cost....
