As an incentive to convince Wade Cordell to join her Bullet Catcher staff, Lucy Sharpe offers him a cushy assignment and advises him that he should pay her to take it. He will fly to the Bahamas, find a woman named Vanessa Porter, charm her into cutting her vacation short, and bring her back to the states. Vanessa is one of the Sapphire Trail black market triplets that might be able to save her birth mother's life. This mission sounds too simple to Wade, and he really should listen to his instincts.
Vanessa, a Wall Street financial wizard, hasn't had a vacation in six years, and isn't on a pleasure trip now. She is looking for her friend and co-worker Clive Easterbrook, who came to the Bahamas on vacation about a month ago and hasn't been heard from since. Wade follows the leggy blond from a gay bar in Basseterre to a gay whorehouse, where she is told at gunpoint to leave the premises. He figures this is where he needs to make her acquaintance. Vanessa wants nothing from this handsome dude except the cab he is holding in front of the whorehouse. It seems that he comes with the ride, and at no extra charge. He offers to help her find her friend and tells her it is what he does for a living. Actually, Wade feels that Clive does not want to be found by Vanessa or anyone. But, if he wants her to return to the states with him, he has to find Clive -- dead or alive.
It would not be a Bullet Catcher book without a hot and steamy romance between the protagonists, and believe me, this is one hot, hot relationship. Since Vanessa and Wade didn't particularly like each other when they first met, now they have to sit on the hands to keep from grabbing each other. Of course, they have to be extra alert since someone is trying to kill them.
THEN YOU HIDE is exciting, provocative, intriguing, sexy, and just plain good. The plot is first-class, the characters are excellent, and the suspense is titillating. Ms. St. Claire's voice is always strong and dynamic, and this book just may possibly be the best of this series. Do NOT leave for vacation without FIRST YOU RUN and THEN YOU HIDE in your tote; they are both fantastic.
