Newly divorced Penny Francisco is appalled at the shade of pink (vaginal) her ex, Deke, is painting their house. She's appalled at the woman (cheating blonde bimbo bitch) he's moved into their house. In fact, she's appalled at her divorce all together. But what can a girl do? Let her friends throw her a divorce party, of course.
With surprise out-of-town guests, a little too much to drink and an encounter with a sexy stranger in the hallway, Penny feels better than she's felt in a long time. When she receives a voodoo doll in the likeness of Deke, she gamely starts poking it. After all, this is Mojo, Louisiana, and it's all in fun. Right?
Wrong. After the party is over, Penny heads home to find an urgent message from Deke. When she can't reach him on the phone, she decides to walk off her buzz and see what he wants. Finding Deke dead, stabbed in the exact same place as his voodoo doll, sends Penny reeling. Sheena, the bimbo girlfriend, finds Penny with Deke and assumes Penny is his killer. So do the cops! It's just all too much of a coincidence. Penny's not sure how she's gonna get out of this mess.
Enter the mysterious man she encountered in the hallway earlier. BJ Beaumont is a private eye dedicated to finding missing children. That's what's brought him to Mojo, but what's going to keep him in Mojo is helping Penny clear her name. As Penny and BJ dig deeper into Deke's mysterious activities during his last days, they find unexpected connections to town big wigs and ties to voodoo. The biggest discovery is their attraction to each other and the lengths they'll go to avoid it. However, getting shot at and magic voodoo sex drinks work against them and sparks fly. Will they even survive to see where this relationship will go?
A satisfying tale of sex, love and voodoo, I highly recommend this book as your guilty pleasure on the nightstand.
