Remy Chandler has some unique abilities for a private
investigator. He can talk with animals and will himself
invsible. Remy is no magician; he's an angel who chose to
live as a human after the horrible war between God and the
Son of the Morning Star. Remy lives a normal life. He married a woman he loves
intensely; a woman who is dying of a horrible cancer.
During an investigation, Remy witnesses a murder-suicide.
As he deals with the detective from the police department,
the two people are pronouced alive and taken to the
hospital. Steven Mulvehill is the only other person who
knows that Remy isn't human. He telss Remy of the many
unusual cases of people who should have died but haven't
across the city. When Remy returns home, he is met by some of the Seraphim.
The angels closest to God who look down on him for the
choice he made to walk away from Heaven. Remy learns that
the angel of death is missing and that is why the souls
can't leave their bodies. Remy finds himself drawn into an investigation which
involves angels, demons and humanity. He will be drawn
into a conspiracy which extends to the highest reaches of
Heaven and would lead to the destruction of the human
race. As the four horseman ride, Remy must find the angel
of death and convince him to return to his duties. A fascinating look at religion and humanity from a
different point of view. Mr. Sniegoski has written a
compelling story of what emotion can do to even the most
divine creatures. A KISS BEFORE THE APOCALYPSE is not a
book that one can pick up
and put down easily. Once you start, you will not want to
put it down until you are finished.
SUMMARY
Boston PI Remy Chandler has many talents. He can will himself invisible; he can speak and understand
any foreign language (including the language of animals);
and if he listens carefully, he can hear thoughts. Unusual, to say the least--for an ordinary man. But Remy is
no ordinary man--he's an angel. Generations ago, when he was
known as the angel Remiel, he chose to renounce heaven and
live on Earth. He's found a place among us ordinary humans,
with friendship, a job he's good at--and love. Now he is being drawn into a case with strong ties to his
angelic past. The Angel of Death has gone missing, and
Remy's former colleagues have come to him for help. But what
at first seems to be about tracing a missing person turns
out to involve much more--a conspiracy that has as its goal
the destruction of the human race. And only Remy Chandler can stop it...
