Paranormal | Mystery

Gabriel Blackstone is a thief who steals industial secrets with the help of his partner, Isidore, a hacker without parallel. Gabriel had been on a different path until he ran into a gruesome discovery which changed his life forever. Gabriel and his lover, Cecily Franck were remote viewers. They were part of a team who attempted to save people who were kidnapped. Gabriel's ego led him to fake some information which resulted in the death of a young woman. At that moment, he quit the team and left Oxford for a new life. Cecily has married one of the wealthiest men in England, William Whittington. William's son has disappeared and William has approached Gabriel to find out where he is and what happened to him. Gabriel rejects the job until he takes a ride and discovers the young man is dead. The information he receives is so confusing he feels he has no choice but to follow it through. This decision will alter the course of Gabriel's life once again. He will meet two sisters who has significant powers. They are both witches and decscendants of a man who believed in the power of memory. One of them is a more powerful remote viewer than Gabriel. His interest in both sisters will not only sidetrack his investigation but will lead to knowledge that one of them is a killer. As his investigation progresses and his fascination with the two sisters increases, Gabriel will be forced to make decisions that will change him forever. This is not a book that I would have picked up on my own. Once I started to read, I was so fascinated that I couldn't put it down. At times, the explanations of the power of memory became ponderous but the elements of witchcraft, mysticism and remote viewing were so intriguing that it was impossible to read this is a detached manner. If you find any one of these aspects of the story of interest, you won't want to miss this book.

SUMMARY

Gabriel Blackstone is an unscrupulous hacker and unrepentant "remote viewer" who can't resist his ex-lover's request to look into her stepson's disappearance. His investigation leads him to a rambling Victorian home that bewitches him-as do its beautiful, enigmatic owners, the Monk sisters. The pair are solar witches, obsessed with alchemy and the Art of Memory, a practice invented by the ancient Greeks.

With his uneasy suspicion that one of the sisters is a killer, Gabriel sets out to determine which. But the more entangled in the case he becomes, the more deeply he is drawn into the sisters' entrancing world-losing hold of reality even as he falls into mortal danger...
