Mystery Woman Sleuth | Paranormal | Romance

Life for Garnet Lacey is never dull. She's trying to buy the occult bookstore she manages. She's just become engaged to Sebastian Von Tram, a 300-year-old vampire, who thinks it's a good idea to start up a new coven now that everything has settled down. Garnet was a member of a coven previously, but everyone was killed when the Vatican came looking for her. Now, they think she's dead and she is safe.

Garnet is trying to come to terms with her new status. Marriage has never been in her plans. As much as she knows about Sebastian, he has secrets that unsettle her. Then strange things start to happen. Garnet sees a wild dog on numerous occasions. Some of her customers are just a bit too inquisitive and their auras are off. After the first coven meeting to lay down the rules and guidelines, Sebastian disappears. He misses a speaking engagement of a subject dear to him, so Garnet knows something is wrong. When Sebastian's son shows up, Garnet is suspicious because he had tried to kill Sebastian and her previously. He vows he had nothing to do with his father's disappearance. He knows something bad has happened to his father, so he wants a truce.

Garnet finds Sebastian's little black book with all the names of the people he uses for nourishment and approaches them one-by-one to find out what's happened to Sebastian. Surely he hasn't run away with one of these women.

Meanwhile, Garnet's life is in danger as a series of "accidents" happen. Garnet confronts one of the new faces in town who's been stalking her and learns that he wants Lilith, the Goddess who lives inside Garnet after she called upon her help when the Vatican tried to kill her. The shape-shifter tricks Garnet and takes Lilith from her. Now Garnet must find Sebastian, as well as getting Lilith back.

Tate Hallaway uses comedy for this quirky witch, Garnet. ROMANCING THE DEAD has lots of excitement and mystery to keep you guessing throughout. It's a fun reading treat.

SUMMARY

It’s been one heck of a week for Garnet Lacey. The Vatican witch hunters finally think she’s dead, the FBI has closed their file on her, she’s co-founding a new coven—and the gorgeous vampire she loves has just asked her to marry him. How lucky can one girl get?

Then, her fiancé goes missing and Garnet’s worried sick. Has he been kidnapped? Or could he have run off with that blonde from the coven? Now Garnet will have to seek the help of her future stepson—the same brat who turned her over to the witch hunters for a brand-new Jaguar. But there’s more bad news: the Goddess Lilith, who camps out in her body, has been making embarrassing appearances. And on top of that, some killer’s on her tail...
