Baton Rouge undercover cop John "Tee-John" LeDeux has a
reputation as a wild man and a player, which fits in
perfectly with his newest assignment; posing as a male
prostitute in an exclusive and very illegal sex club run by
the Lorenzos, a Louisiana Mafia family. But when
straight-laced reporter Celine Arseneux walks into the club
dressed for a little action, John knows he needs to get her
out of there fast! Unfortunately, Celine refuses to leave
until she gets her news story on the club, which means
they're still arguing when the police raid the place.
With the Mafia clued into John's involvement in the bust,
he's ordered to lay low for a few weeks until after the
trial, so he volunteers to join his Tante Lulu's latest
project; searching for Lafitte's pirate treasure in Bayou
Black with the help of the Jinx Inc treasure hunting team.
The team is soon joined by a reluctant Celine, who was
ordered to cover the dig for her paper. The Jinx crew
doesn't trust her, but they allow her to stay on the
condition that she remain for the entire expedition, which
could take weeks, forcing her and John into very close quarters.
The only person who is happy about the arrangement is Tante
Lulu, who has been determined to get John married and who
sees Celine as the answer to her prayers to St. Jude, the
saint of hopeless cases. Everyone can see the sparks flying
between Celine and John, but Tante Lulu suspects there is
something more going on, a suspicion which is confirmed when
she discovers that Celine has a five-year-old son who is the
spitting image of Tee-John! Celine is forced to admit that
the boy, Etienne, is John's son, conceived during a drunken
one-night stand while the two were in college. The Arseneuxs
and the LeDeuxs have had a long-standing feud for decades,
and Celine promised her grandfather she wouldn't tell John
about the baby in exchange for her grandfather's help in
raising Etienne.
The discovery that he has a son shocks John to the core,
but it also ignites a burning anger towards Celine for
keeping Etienne a secret for the past five years. The
bitter argument that follows shreds the fragile relationship
that had been developing while they worked together at the
dig, and pits them against each other in a battle for
custody of Etienne. But Tante Lulu knows that St Jude just
can't be wrong, and that these two are destined for each
other, whether they're too thickheaded to realize it or not.
It just means that she'll need to gather the considerable
talents and creative minds of the LeDeuxs and their Jinx
friends to formulate a plan, no matter how outrageous, to
force John and Celine to realize how much they love each other.
WILD JINX, the third book in the Jinx Series, is populated
with the same riotous cast of characters from Sandra Hill's
other Jinx and Cajun novels which will keep you laughing
from cover to cover. Tante Lulu is outrageous, opinionated
and an utter delight, and Celine and John's pitched battles
and passionate encounters keep the sexual tension at a
steady boil. The outlandish adventures of this wacky,
wonderful family will make you wish you lived on the bayou!
Hot...
When reporter Celine Arseneux entered The Playpen, a Baton
Rouge club for men and women, she never expected John
LeDeux to swagger up to her. Sure, they bayou's notorious
bad boy is pure sex on the hoof, but even with her expose on
the line. Celine refuses to be a conquest left cryin' in her
crayfish--at least not again. Not for a man who doesn't
remember her!
Bothered...
Detective LeDeux has always been too hot to handle, but now
he's on fire as the cop who posed as a gigolo to bust the
Dixie Mafia. Joining Tanta Lulu's treasure hunt seems a fine
way to avoid the media ruckus--until Celine pursues her
story deep into the bayou, stoking John's hazy memories of a
sizzling night five years ago.
And ready to take it all off!
Lovers and pirates and gangsters--oh my! It's another wild
ride with Jinx Inc., where trouble is no match for a cagey
Cajun matchmaker... and passion conquers all.
