Ex-Dallas Cowboy football star and Los Vegas gambler, Brady Carrick hadn't been this excited in a long time. He knew from the horse's bloodlines that Amber Mac was going to be a good horse, but he just couldn't believe how great he was. So, with cagey gambling skills and a bit of patience, Marshall Carrick, Brady's father was able to get a winning deal on the horse for only $43,000. Now, on the way back to their ranch, Brady just couldn't wait to train him -- that is, of course, if his father could only trust him again.

Stopping for a burger at Cliff's Diner, Dobbs, the head trainer, couldn't help but tease Brady as he was so keen on training Amber Mac. After Brady's boast that he could train a novice player right up to the top professional level, Dobbs calls him on it by suggesting that he should train Molly, the cute blonde waitress serving them, to do it and the bet was made that if he succeeded, he could train Amber Mac.

Shocked that Molly actually accepts and later arrives at the Cross Fox Ranch with her young son, Sam, in tow, Brady grumbles, but finally settles into the reality of her visit. Despite his grumbling, as Molly's spunk and determination emerges, Brady starts to see Molly in a new light.

Meanwhile, Molly had her own reasons for coming. Getting away from her straightlaced oldtime preacher father was one and the other was to give Brady the big payback that her vengeance demanded, ever since her husband, Kevin Davis had been killed. As time passes and her skill in poker increases, Molly's vengeance starts to cool a little as she sees a different side to Brady, even though he drove her crazy when he tries to get her pudgy Sam to exercise more and do some chores. She would teach him to interfere with her life again as she strives to keep her focus on beating Brady at his own game.

Cynthia Thomason has given her fans a winning hand of a romance! With a hot pair and a handful of intriguing supporting cards, oops, that's characters, this high stakes romance is bound to please the most pokerface of readers. With her knowledge of high stakes poker and the racing crowd, Thomason's background research and storyline effectively intertwine to form an authentic story that is strong enough on its own or for fans to enjoy as a winning hand along with the rest of the Texas Hold 'em series. You will definitely want to deal yourself into this romantic game!
