Tish Gallagher is a wedding videographer. More accurately she is an out-of-work wedding videographer who is deep in debt and has just purchased a pair of non-returnable designer shoes with the little bit of money left in her account. She has come to the end of her rope and desperate times call for desperate measures, so Tish decides to take out the wedding veil. The legend states that this wedding veil will bestow the wearer their heart's desire. Tish wishes to be out of debt; however, when she puts the veil on, she sees her ex-husband, Shane. She soon receives a call from the president's daughter asking her to be the videographer for her wedding. It seems too good to be true, but Tish is not going to question her luck. Not even when she finds out that Shane is the groom. How can she film a wedding when she is still in love with the groom? Will this help her to finally get over him?
Shane Tremont is a Secret Service agent charged with the protection of the president's daughter, Elysee Benedict. While at a public ceremony, he pushes her out of harm's way and is gravely injured himself. He recuperates at the president's ranch with Elysee constantly at his side. He likes that she is there for him while at the same time she needs him to be there for her. Shane's injuries are severe enough that he will not be able to return to his previous position, but he feels a certain connection with Elysee. When he proposes, Elysee accepts and thus begins the wedding preparations. He is completely shocked when he is introduced to the videographer to see his ex-wife, Tish. Just seeing her reminds him of the times they shared with one another. How can Elysee hire his ex-wife to film their wedding? How is he supposed to marry Elysee with Tish there reminding him of his failure?
Lori Wilde has written a very entertaining romance. She takes us on an exhilarating ride filled with twists and unexpected dips. Not only does she have the expected romance, but also she includes comedy, intrigue, kidnapping, and possible murder. It is definitely a very diverse, but funny story line. Her characters add to the charm of the tale. Tish is the independent woman determined to make the most out of any circumstance. Shane is the essential male needing to maintain control and take care of everyone else. Elysee is the dependent female who is certain that she has found Mr. Right after numerous failed attempts. ONCE SMITTEN, TWICE SHY is a thrilling romantic comedy and a guaranteed fun read. I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to the next Wedding Veil adventure.
