Miranda Albright has been out for a couple of seasons, but no one has caught her attention. Now that her father has died, Miranda begins to manage the finances, and finds that their family was left with very little. Her mother carries on as though they have money, and is determined to have seasons for each of Miranda's three younger sisters. Miranda knows that they cannot afford such extravagance, and takes it upon herself to find a way out of their financial peril. She knows exactly the bargain she wishes to make. For the past three years, she has covertly watched her neighbor's, the Earl of Rothschild, escapades with his lovers. She has always yearned for the type of passion he seems to ignite in the women he entertains, and has known that the men who offered for her could never excite that type of response from her. Will the earl accept her bargain? Will she be able to become a slave to his passions without losing a part of her heart in the process?
Ethan Hamon, the Earl of Rothschild, is at his country home for the summer without an escort. He did not find a woman that excited him enough to keep her for the whole season. It is to his shock that Miranda Albright comes knocking on his door with an interesting bargain. She will give him three months of absolute surrender if he will support and host each of her sister's seasons. It is a bargain to die for, but he has never had an interest in innocents. He kisses her in hopes to scare her off, but she responds with a naivety that heats his blood. The more involved he becomes with her, the more out of control he starts to become. How is it possible that an innocent can best the wicked Earl of Rothschild? Will he be able to let her go?
Jess Michaels has written a poignant romance filled with erotic interludes. Her characters are very endearing and the reader is able to experience their emotions and to understand their actions. Miranda undergoes a sexual awakening like no other with a very experienced man as her guide for the journey. She risks everything to secure her family's future. Ethan, the debauched earl, embarks on a similar journey though his is an awakening of the heart. He must overcome all that he has thought impossible for someone of his tastes. EVERYTHING FORBIDDEN is a wonderful historical romance that leaves the reader panting for more.
Country miss Miranda Albright has secretly watched her
wicked neighbor, Ethan Hamon, the Earl of Rothschild, as
he 'entertained' lovers on the grounds of his country
estate for three summers. But after her father dies and the
family falls into financial peril, Miranda is driven to
strike a bargain with the Earl. He will play financial and
social host for a Season for each of her three younger
sisters... in exchange for three months of sin with her.
Miranda has always ached for the passion sheโs spied upon,
but she knows Ethan is the kind of man who could steal her
heart, as well as claim her body. And falling in love with
a man who admits she is nothing but a game to him could be
the most dangerous and forbidden seduction of all.
EXCERPT
โI realize I was not expected.โ Miranda jammed her shaking
hands together behind her back in the hopes she could
somehow erase her nervousness.
โNor invited,โ he interjected with a wide grin that seemed
to flow over his entire handsome face. โBut I did not say
it was an unpleasant surprise. I do admit, Iโm quite
curious as to the reason for your call. Would you care to
enlighten me?โ
She shifted nervously, staring at the open door. Why hadnโt
he come inside?
โEr, it is a delicate matter I wish to discuss,โ she
stammered. โI would rather the servants did not hear.โ
Rothschild tilted his head and looked at her closely. There
was something about the way he was examining her. Like he
wasnโt sure if he should eat her or indulge her. She wasnโt
sure which option she preferred.
โMy servants have no ears, my dear,โ he finally said and
remained in the doorway.
She frowned. โAll servants have ears, my lord, even when
they pretend they do not. You know that as well as I do.โ
โI had forgotten that you are a sharp little minx, too.โ
He smiled again, wolfish, but it was as if the comment were
more for himself than her. She folded her arms across her
chest as a barrier.
โWill you not close the door?โ she asked, tilting her chin
with pride.
His grin became less genuine. โNo, my dear, I will not. I
wonโt have your Mama saying I ruined you and demanding I
take your hand in marriage. I wonโt be trapped, if that is
what you came here for.โ
She moved forward without thinking. โHow dare you! Of
course I didnโt come here to trap you! And my mother has
nothing to do with this!โ She stopped. โWell, she does, but
only indirectly. She certainly did not send me here as part
of some scheme.โ
He leaned back to examine her. โSharp, saucy and beautiful,
too. It is a pity.โ He seemed to ponder her statement for a
moment, then shrugged as he stepped into the room and shut
the door behind him. โVery well. But recognize that if you
are lying, I wonโt marry you to salvage any blemish to your
reputation. If you create a situation for yourself, you
will live with the consequences.โ
If Miranda hadnโt been so nervous, she might have laughed.
Dear God, the man had no idea what she was about to
propose. Well, he was too smug and self-assured for his own
good anyway. It might be entertaining to see him completely
shocked.
Terrifying. But entertaining...
