What would you do to save a child's life? For single mom Kerri Sulllivan, that answer is simple; whatever it takes. Ever since the day her son Cody was diagnosed with Gilliar's Disease, a fatal degenerative bone disorder, she has battled to provide hope for a cure which will save her son's life. To raise his spirits following his diagnosis, Kerri convinced him that she was Wonder Mom, possessing superhuman powers which were passed on to Cody, giving him the strength to defeat the disease which has claimed the lives of so many other children. She also moved them to Songwood, Washington, where cutting edge research on Gilliar's was being performed until an accident at the lab caused an explosion, killing several employees and shutting down the lab. Now Kerri needs fifteen million dollars to convince the researcher in charge to reopen the lab and continue the search for a cure. Kerri's desperate, but she knows just whom to ask; Nathan King, a Seattle developer whose own son died of Gilliar's a few years earlier. A self-made billionaire, Nathan King is not known for his warm heart or generosity. When Kerri makes her plea for his assistance after cornering him in a restaurant, he has her tossed from the building. Never one to give up, Kerri sends an announcement to the press informing them that Nathan has agreed to donate the necessary fifteen million dollars. Nathan's furious when he discovers her ploy, but also realizes that he can use her cause and her girl-next-door good looks to help him get approval for his latest project; a water-front apartment building for the wealthy in Seattle. Ecstatic at the possibility of a real cure for her son, Kerri readily agrees to Nathan's proposal to provide him with good press in exchange for the funds for the lab. But as circumstances bring them together over the next few weeks, Nathan's actions reveal that he isn't the heartless man everyone imagines. His wounds from the loss of his son have left a mark that has never healed, closing him off from love to prevent further pain. Furthermore, Nathan understands the incredible pressure and anguish Kerri is feeling as she watches Cody's body weaken, knowing that nothing short of a miracle will save his life. Nathan's startled to discover that he not only respects the woman who blackmailed him, but he desires her, too. Unfortunately, Kerri believes in the deal she made long ago; that for Cody to live, she must give up all of her own desires, and that includes a relationship with the delectable Nathan King. ACCIDENTALLY YOURS is pure gold, combining sparkling humor with a heart-wrenching conflict. Kerri and Cody's optimism and selfless behavior in the face of adversity could melt the heart of the most confirmed cynic, while Nathan King's pessimism and self-centered behavior are a wonderful contrast, making his slow change into the understanding nurturer that Kerri and Cody need all the more satisfying. In the skillful hands of Susan Mallery, love and hope create miracles, as well as a warm, deeply satisfying story. I highly recommend this book!
