Daria has taken a temporary night manager job at the Woo Woo Inn, a cozy inn located in New Jersey. She has some serious snatching to take care of to prove that she's Harpy material for Hades. Daria is looking for the most wicked victim to take to Tartarus to prove to Hades that she can follow in the footsteps of her mother and her aunt. She knows a judge has been sent to the inn to watch her every move.
The fates are against Daria. A cosmic troublemaker named Sparkle has decided that Daria needs some sex in her life and who better to pair her with but Declan MacKenzie, a 900- year-old vampire who drips sexy.
Most Harpies are hideous and extremely proud of it. They are vicious and heartless creatures, half-man and half- vulture, and have the power to stay in human form until they mark their victim. This is when they turn into the hideous creature who grasps the victim in its talons to cart off to Hades. Daria isn't so lucky, since her father is a god named Apollo. And Daria and her twin brother, Kel, take after his good looks. Even though Kel has used his magic to make Daria somewhat ugly, they don't want to scare off customers. Declan is attracted to Daria. Vampires don't feel much, especially after 900 years, but Daria does something to him. She makes him care. Daria has bet Sparkle that she can resist Declan. It's a bet she is destined to lose.
Some guests at the Woo Woo have been killed and Declan is investigating the tragedies along with another cosmic troublemaker who runs the inn. They discover that the killer is gaining strength and plans to end life on earth and become a god.
The cosmic troublemakers have some trouble of their own and Daria isn't proving herself to be Harpy material; she likes people too much. Declan can't resist Daria and it's not because Sparkle has worked her magic on the two of them.
ONE BITE STAND is a light, humorous and sensual story with ingredients that can only add up to a satisfying conclusion. Nina Bangs has a great sense of humor and her own take on magic and vampires and romance.
