STAG PARTY
For centuries, Dane Hearne has lived as the Irish god
Cernunnos, Lord of the Forest, returning every spring from
the Underworld to wed his goddess at the Druid celebration
of Beltane. But this spring, his Goddess, the vain Lady
Fidencia, has run off with the Greek god Dionysus, and is
now married and pregnant, making her unavailable to marry
Dane. That leaves Dane with only six days to find a new
wife, or he will lose his immortality and turn to dust.
Enter the intelligent and attractive Megan St. Clair, an
American travel writer on assignment in Ireland. Dane thinks
she would be a perfect wife for him, but Megan's not as
willing to leap into marriage with someone she just met,
especially when she believes Dane might be insane. How else
can she explain his insistence that he's an immortal god
with Druid worshippers living on his property? True, he
sprouts magical antlers from his forehead when he's angry,
but even if he's not crazy, is she really prepared for an
immortal life with a man she barely knows?
NORSE TRULY
Brynna expects a quiet vacation when she decides to visit
her extended family in Sweden. What she gets is a
thousand-year-old cursed Viking and his crew, who fish her
out of the ocean after her car plunges over a cliff. Brynna
doesn't want to believe the handsome leader, Alrik
Sigurdsson, is a ghost, especially after they share a
passionate kiss, but his ability to disappear at will is
impressive and unexplainable. Alrik insists that Brynna is a
Valkyrie, sent to end his curse and lead them all to
Valholl, the Viking warrior heaven. Brynna's sure he has
the wrong woman, but she agrees to help the men any way that
she can, which means taking them to meet her family, who
might be able to help her decide what to do next. When they
arrive at the house, however, Brynna is shocked to discover
that it is her own great grandmother, Hilda, who is still
alive and centuries older than Bryanna ever dreamed, who
cursed Alrik after his father spurned her in love and
married Alrik's mother instead. Hilda refuses to end the
curse unless she is appeased, and she gives Alrik three
tasks to perform, the first of which is to heal the wound of
her abandonment by marrying a daughter of her line, Brynna.
Alrik is eager to break his curse, and embraces the plan to
marry Brynna, but Brynna can't feel the same excitement at
the thought of a marriage. How can she possibly wed a man
she's known for one day, even a handsome and intriguing one?
And if she agrees, does she dare risk opening her heart to
Alrik as they work together to complete the other two tasks,
knowing that in the end, he will leave her forever?
The plotlines for AIN'T MYTH-BEHAVING are definitely off
the beaten path for most paranormal romance. Both Dane and
Alrik have a great deal to learn about modern women and
romance when they meet their heroines, although Megan and
Brynna seem unusually susceptible to the power of a
passionate kiss, even in some questionable and potentially
dangerous situations. However, the heroes rise to the
occasion in the end, and both stories reach enjoyable,
touching, and emotionally satisfying conclusions. If you're
looking for whimsy and humor with a dash of the unusual,
then you'll want to reach for a copy of AIN'T MYTH-BEHAVING.
A modern woman and a god from ancient legend? Surely an epic
love mismatch...or maybe it's the "myth match" of the
century? The irrepressible Katie MacAlister brings us heroes
who are more than mere mortals in two sparkling new novellas
of the Otherworld.
