Jude Coyne was the lead singer of a famous rock band, until his band members died and everything fell apart. Now in his fifties, Jude spends his time romancing women, one after another, and collecting weird things.

When Jude's personal assistant, Danny, receives an email from an online auction site about a ghost for sale, they jump at the chance to bid on it. The seller is auctioning off her stepfather's old suit and believes that wherever the suit goes, his ghost will go with it. Jude pays $1,000 to outbid everyone.

When the suit arrives in a heart shaped box, Jude doesn't think much of it. He doubts there will be a real ghost accompanying the suit. But when a real ghost does appear, things get very dangerous.

Jude's girlfriend Marybeth, nicknamed Georgia, lives with him. She starts to get a funny feeling about the suit and wants to get rid of it. But when Jude contacts the seller he finds out this sale was set up deliberately by his ex girlfriend's sister. Apparently his ex girlfriend's stepfather's ghost is here to make him pay for hurting his stepdaughter.

There is no returning the suit or the ghost. The ghost is trying to make Jude regret his existence and will hurt anyone in his path to get to him. Will Jude and Georgia be able to run from this ghost or will he follow them and haunt them forever?

Jude and Georgia attempt to flee the ghost in their car but anyone who attempts to help them will die. How can they kill something that is already dead? Will they lose their minds while running from the ghost? Is there a deeper mystery behind the reason for the ghost hunting them? Will they make it out alive?

HEART SHAPED BOX is a spooky and thrilling ghost story that will keep you up all night turning the pages. This is a truly suspenseful and scary book that will make your heart pound, your hands sweat and force you to clench your teeth so hard from the intensity of the story. HEART SHAPED BOX is the best debut book that I have ever read and I can't wait for more books by Joe Hill.

Mystery, thriller, and ghost story fans will all find something to their liking in this powerful novel. I highly recommend HEART SHAPED BOX to readers who are looking for a gripping novel that they won't be able to put down.

SUMMARY

Judas Coyne is a collector of the macabre: a cookbook for cannibals . . . a used hangman's noose . . . a snuff film. An aging death-metal rock god, his taste for the unnatural is as widely known to his legions of fans as the notorious excesses of his youth. But nothing he possesses is as unlikely or as dreadful as his latest discovery, an item for sale on the Internet, a thing so terribly strange, Jude can't help but reach for his wallet.

I will "sell" my stepfather's ghost to the highest bidder. . . .

For a thousand dollars, Jude will become the proud owner of a dead man's suit, said to be haunted by a restless spirit. He isn't afraid. He has spent a lifetime coping with ghostsof an abusive father, of the lovers he callously abandoned, of the bandmates he betrayed. What's one more?

But what UPS delivers to his door in a black heart-shaped box is no imaginary or metaphorical ghost, no benign conversation piece. It's the real thing.

And suddenly the suit's previous owner is everywhere: behind the bedroom door . . . seated in Jude's restored vintage Mustang . . . standing outside his window . . . staring out from his widescreen TV. Waitingwith a gleaming razor blade on a chain dangling from one bony hand. . . .
