With borrowed credential from a journalist buddy, Detective Zach Thomas scanned the staff of New Horizons, a new pharmaceutical testing company, for a likely target. Seeking a caring face, he zeroed in on Jessica Parker, a beautiful blonde researcher associated with eh deadly drug - HC0815. For her part, Jessica was thrilled to be associated with New Horizons and her recent promotion was timed with this media launch. Wanting everything thing to go smoothly, she too scanned the media in attendance and immediately noticed an anomaly. Who was that man in the leather jacket? He just didn't belong! Was he a competitor anxious to steal the company's secrets? As soon as she has a chance, she signaled to Miles Van Cleef, the head of New Horizons, her concern and he asked her to head him off.

Despite their opposing agendas, as soon as Zach challenged Jessica on the side-effects of the new wonder drug to address Hepatitis C and told her about his brother's suicide as a result of being in the drug trials, her researcher brain kicked into gear. Still very anxious to save the company name and reputation, Jessica still had to check out the objective facts. Was Zach just feeling guilty that he had encouraged Jim to be involved in the clinical trials for the extra money and the extra pressures of university life had driven his brother to commit suicide or was there really a cover-up? As they decided to delve further for more information, dangerous circumstances force Jessica and Zach to be together despite the fact they are unsure of each other. Believing her boss to be innocent, despite the growing evidence of concern, Diana vows to find out what is really happening with HC0815 as it has the potential to be so beneficial to so many people.

Meanwhile, as their investigation uncovers more coincidences, the situation becomes more deadly and innocent lives are at stake. Who can they trust? Can they really trust each other to do what is needed?

If you have not read Kathleen Long before, you will be thrilled by her abilities to integrate fast paced undercover and unauthorized police work with realistic depictions of the very competitive and the high stakes world of pharmaceutical research. As the two strong willed characters, Jessica and Zach, deal with their conflicting emotions and circumstances force them to overcome their barriers of trust and work isolation, the author effectively interweaves themes of how families react to suicide and the lingering feelings of guilt that drive their actions. This is one captivating romance you will want to check out!
