By most standards, Georgina Kincaid has got it all. She has the ability to look like whomever she so chooses, her job is to sleep with men who have made a deal with the devil and steal bits of their soul and she's immortal. Georgina, however, isn't all that thrilled with her life. Though she has the best immortal friends a girl could want, she's lonely and wants to be able to have a loving relationship with a man. But because she can't be with a man without sucking out bits of his life force, she sticks to men who are part of her job.
As if abstaining from a relationship isn't hard enough, abstaining in the face of temptation is even harder. Especially when the temptation comes in doubles. First there's shy best selling author Seth Mortensen whose books Georgina would sell her own soul (if she still had one left) to get before they're even published and then there's hunky Roman Smith, who saved her from her boss and refuses to take no for an answer. But before this alluring succubus can decide to do or don't with either man, immortals around the Emerald City start showing up dead and Georgina has to find out who or what is killing them, fast. From the looks of things, she may just be next on the killer's list.
Every so often you get a book that makes you think; "This is why I read paranormal!" SUCCUBUS BLUES is that kind of book. I was sucked into it from the get go and long after I had finished reading it, I still couldn't stop thinking about the characters and what's going to happen in the next book. For a debut author, Richelle Mead has done a phenomenal job in bringing all her characters to life, especially Georgina. She delves deep into Georgina's life, her relationships, how she came to be a succubus and you start to really identify with her character. Full of wit, charm, sarcasm and enough sex appeal to keep you on your toes, SUCCUBUS BLUES will suck you into its world and not let go. The sequel, SUCCUBUS ON TOP, cannot come out fast enough for me.
