Ancient Furnace Jennifer Scales is determined to bring peace among the weres and the beaststalkers. In what she sees as a step in the right direction, she invites her friends Susan, Skip and Eddie to Crescent Valley. Things go wrong almost from the beginning after her mother and father join the group -- the elders don't approve of wereachnid Skip knowing the location of the ancient gathering place; a long-ago incident threatens Elizabeth Scales; and beaststalker Eddie is less that stellar in the bravery department before the intimidating dragons in the welcoming committee.
